This weekend, Andy and I took a much-awaited jaunt to the Malvern Spring Festival. After my autumn trip with the kids, I was keen to sample the spring offering, and it didn’t disappoint!

We stayed in the same riverside caravan park, with the easy walk round to the local pub, and enjoyed the best pub grub we’ve had in a while – just half an hour or so from the Three Counties Showground.

Set against the backdrop of the Malvern Hills, the show is full of colour, inspiration and the sort of atmosphere that makes you want to come home and immediately start rearranging plant pots, or in this particular case, house plants!
This year’s theme, “Roots of the Future”, focused on blending traditional gardening with ideas around biodiversity, soil health and climate resilient growing.
One of my favourite parts of the day was simply slowing down and taking everything in properly. The show gardens were packed with ideas that felt creative but still achievable, from wildlife-friendly planting to thoughtful, smaller spaces designed for real life rather than perfection.

The indoor plant displays were also brilliant this year, showing how greenery can completely transform a home and support wellbeing, too. I got ridiculously inspired by this and immediately got to work rearranging my house plants and deciding where I can fit more!

We thoroughly enjoyed The Malvern Chase Brass Band’s Sunday set from the BBC Hereford and Worcester bandstand too, lying back in the oh so British deckchairs, feet a-tapping!

Beyond the gardens themselves, there was plenty happening across the showground, talks from well-known gardening personalities, cooking demonstrations, independent stalls, beautiful floral displays and obviously lots of plants!

We left with ideas, inspiration and a slightly overambitious mental list of things we’d like to try at home. Oh, and a Harris Tweed handbag (obviously essential).
