First plant is in on my new apothecary garden! #Melissaofficinalis Culinary Uses Herbal tea – Fresh or dried leaves steeped in hot water make a soothing tea Flavoured water or iced tea – Add to cold drinks for a refreshing twist Salads – Chop finely and add to fruit or green salads for a citrusy note Herb butters – Blend with softened butter for use on fish, veg, or bread Baking – Infuse into cakes, muffins, or scones (especially nice with lemon drizzle cake) Jams and jellies – Add during cooking for a citrusy flavour Pesto – Use in place of or alongside basil for a lighter, lemony version Medicinal & Wellness Uses Sleep and anxiety support – Taken as a tea or tincture to help calm the nervous system Digestive aid – Helps with bloating and indigestion when taken after meals Cold sore treatment – Lemon balm has antiviral properties; apply as a cream or infused oil Headache relief – Tea or essential oil applied to temples may help ease tension headaches Menstrual cramps – Its relaxing properties can ease mild discomfort Topical & Beauty Uses Herbal bath – Add a handful of fresh leaves to your bath for a relaxing soak Face steam – Helps cleanse and soothe irritated or tired skin Infused oil – For use in homemade salves or massage oils Lemon balm toner – Make an infusion and use as a refreshing facial mist In the Garden/Home Pollinator attractor – Great for bees, especially when flowering Natural air freshener – Place sprigs in a vase or crush leaves for their fresh scent Insect repellent – Rub crushed leaves on skin to repel mosquitoes (mildly effective) Potpourri or herbal sachets – Dried lemon balm adds a fresh scent to drawers and rooms

Just got back from a trip to London. I’m not all Just got back from a trip to London. I’m not allowed to have a simple year of progress it seems. I’m feeling very defeated right now but by tomorrow I will have put my brain back in order. This was screwed down to chunky wood and weighted with bricks. I have underestimated the wind for the last time.
