Lately, the garden has been full of starlings. Not just the adults, but their young too. I have watched them arrive in noisy, fluttering groups, landing across the lawn and hedges like little bursts of movement.

The young ones are easy to spot. Slightly fluffier, wide-eyed, and waiting with open beaks. The adults dart back and forth, finding food and popping it gently into their mouths. It is a lovely thing to witness, quiet, caring, and completely instinctive.

I’ve been stopping whatever I am doing to watch them. Something is reassuring in the way they look out for each other. Nature, as ever, is getting on with things in its own way.

It is a reminder that even in a small garden, there is so much life to see if you pause for a moment. These ordinary scenes are anything but. They are full of wonder!
